Look at the Big Picture

The "Great Recession" of 2008 - 2009 has scared many investors into portfolio paralysis:  afraid to get out of existing positions, afraid to commit to new investments.  Yet the economic upheaval taking place today demands that intelligent investors respond to the changing environment or risk being left behind.  The federal government's stimulus plan favors some industries, sectors, and companies, and penalizes others.  Recessions create both opportunites and challenges.  Consumers, corporations, and state and local governments are restructuring, refinancing,

and looking to cut expenses, improve efficiences, and lay the groundwork for future growth.  The federal reserves is expanding its balance sheet --i.e., printing money-- at an unprecedented rate.  Many economists believe this will ultimately prove inflationary.  Long-term interest rates are going up, and the U.S. dollar has been volatile relative to foreign currencies.  Intelligent investors need to accept these variables and uncertainties and create an "all weather" portfolio that will retain purchasing power.

Consider the Tax Consequences

All too often, financial planners fail to consider the tax implications of their recommendations, leaving the client with an unnecessarily large tax bill, or squandered tax-saving opportunities.  With 23 years of experience preparing individual, trust, and estate ncome tax returns, Paul Drescher can guide you in making "tax-wise" investment decisions.
